    Faculty Positions at the Institute of Ecology, Peking University

    The Institute of Ecology (IOE), Peking University is a research institute funded in 2018 by Peking University. The mission of this new institute is to make a strong and integrated Ecology program in Peking University. With a history of more than 60 years, the Ecology program in Peking University has seen its most rapid growth in the past two decades. The recent establishment of the Institute of Ecology provides independent funding and a large number of new faculty positions, and hence provides a broad platform for development of the Ecology program. Currently, the Institute of Ecology has 26 Principle Investigators (PI), who are from College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, School of Life Science, and College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering. Two PIs are elected member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 9 are female. The faculty of the institute has a high diversity and provides a dynamic, collaborative environment and happy for research and teaching. The Institute of Ecology conducts leading research in the areas of global change ecology, biodiversity sciences and conservation biology, vegetation ecology, plant physiological ecology and belowground ecology. The research outputs have contributed to the development of the ecology discipline and the decision making in governments, and hence have been widely recognized both in China and internationally. Recently, one of the PIs has won the Whittaker Distinguished Ecologist Award of the Ecological Society of America. The Institute of Ecology has also established a complete education program, and recruits 20-30 bachelor students, 15-20 master studies, and 25-30 PhD students every year.     The Institute of Ecology is currently seeking excellent talents for expanding the breadth of our research areas and in the future to make the Institute of Ecology one of the top ecology institutes in the world. Therefore, we welcome applicants whose research focuses on microbial ecology, biodiversity and conservation biology, evolutionary biology, restoration ecology, and landscape ecology.

    Positions can be filled as tenured or tenure-track professorship at the levels of Full Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor, or as research professorship at the levels of Research Professor, Research Associate Professor or Research Assistant Professor. The successful candidates for the tenured or tenure-track faculty positions are responsible to develop and lead an internationally competitive team and to teach 2-3 courses per year at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidates for the research faculty positions are expected to conduct independent research and to participate the research of a group.
